The Flying Butternut

Ok, so they've been here for a month or so, but I am getting around to putting up pictures on our two new prizes.
<--- That's me and the dog, sitting on a 58" (yes, that's right) diameter elm tree. We snagged this baby from Cabbagetown, and had some very nice fellow place it on the trailer. The plans are for us to slab this out at full width, live-edge sizes, and vacuum dry the slabs. They will start at $1000.00, and if you want to reserve one, call us NOW- they're going fast. As far as availability, they should be ready to go in about 6-8 weeks. vacuum drying is fast, but we are trying to preserve this tree and will take our time. Contestant #2 from Cabbagetown has been dubbed "The Flying Butternut", some after the pictures, and is also a nod to the flying biscuit - man I love that place. Sucks they franchised it out.

<----First, call your local friendly crane operator, Thanks Mitch! Then, chain that bad boy up, drag it over........

<------grab with claw, hold breath, cross everything you have.......

<----aaaaand, LIFTOFF! She's airborne, and we're almost there. Just a bit more, and....

<----we got it!! strapped down, ready to go, and we'll get it on the mill here shortly. This log, and the butt log, (shown flying above) will be flitch-sawn at 8/4, and will be available green for $7.00/BF, or dried for $15.00 per BF on slabs. If you want a live-edge slab, call us at 404-790-0932 and we can make it happen. expect to pay $18-22/BF for live edge, vacuum dried lumber. Sooo, those are a couple of the new arrivals, and we are super excited to lay them open. We'll have a sawmill party for the milling, and if you want to come watch, drop us an email at mswoodtrader@gmail.com and we'll make it happen. We also have some beautiful old beadboard, a large block of cherry crotch (below), and some other cool finds, which include a 4.5" thick block of Walnut, 12.5" wide, and Air Dried to 10%. Will make an incredible mantle, or a resawn tabletop. $400.00 takes it. Color like you wouldn't believe. Come and see.
